The Great Global Greyhound Walk

The Great Global Greyhound Walk is an annual dog-walking event that brings together greyhounds, lurchers, other sighthounds and their owners to raise awareness of the breeds and show the public just what wonderful pets they make.

2019 was a record breaking year with 8,795 hounds ‘walking’ together across the world.

In Dorchester the Forever Hounds Trust (Dorset Branch) joined the walk. The Forever Hounds Trust started as a small charity operation in the West Country in 1996, as Greyhound Rescue West of England, before changing their name to Forever Hounds Trust in 2016.

They are dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and homing of greyhounds and lurchers and home around 500 of these special dogs every year. Forever Hounds Trust takes in greyhounds and lurchers in need. Dogs come from members of the public, veterinary surgeries, dog wardens, or straight from the greyhound racetracks. Forever Hounds Trust takes in greyhounds, lurchers and sighthounds of all ages, from puppies to golden oldies!

They carefully match hounds and homes and provide support for life through our post-homing support team of qualified behaviourists.
