Wishing you a feast of Festivities & a Furry Fabulous New Year!

Dorset Dogs Member Newsletter

It’s been a treat meeting so many of you at our fun, free and friendly walkies, pit stops and annual Festival! Do keep an eye on the events pages of the main website or the lively Facebook page to join us in 2020. If you can’t join us at events, join online as a free member instead, sending in your photos for the new members page (‘join us’ button). There’s a special photo album on Dorset Dogs Facebook for you too, just post your walkies photo in the comments or message it to the page and we will add it.

Help birds taking shelter this winter – and support Dorset Dogs’ work. Visit Wagipawdia and if you enjoy coastal areas around Poole and its vast harbour (includes all around Sandbanks, Hamworthy, Arne, Studland beaches and the rest!) during the winter months can we ask you to answer the quick 7-question survey on that page? Before we know it we will also be talking about nesting birds too – do you know about the ones who nest on the ground? Find out about them with us – check it out online or come along to a walkies.

Dorset Dogs Summer Festival 2020 – this year’s fantastic celebration of dogs, wildlife and countryside will be on Saturday 15 August; once again it will be at Canford Park SANG to introduce everyone to the huge extra area being added this year. One of the wonderful things about this truly dog-friendly walking area is that public feedback is listened to, so that it’s managed thoughtfully, to be a great place for a wide range of dogs and people. Did you know ‘SANG’ stands for ‘Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace? Yup it’s a mouthful – but we prefer to think of it as places that ‘sing out’ for people to come and enjoy them!

Dorset Dogs website  – is worth exploring! Lots of information on ‘out & about’ and ‘dog-friendly’ pages, a growing encyclopaedia (Wagipawdia), members page and don’t forget the events and news pages! If you need someone to walk or look after your dog you can check out these folks: dog walkers and pet care – they’ve agreed to follow the doggy do code.  Meanwhile it’s so easy to keep in touch and add your comments at Dorset Dogs Facebook or Instagram

So many grateful thanks to give again  To Who? To YOU:

  • Everybody who works with us at walkies, pit stops and big events like the Festival, or through the website and so much more – that’s everyone from charities, businesses, organisations, local authorities and all of the Urban Heaths Partnership folks including the core team and partner rangers who do so much at the Festival and support or guide us at walkies.
  • All the wonderful Dorset Dogs volunteer Ambassadors– we truly couldn’t manage without you.  Interested? If you can you spare a day or even two (or more!) in 2020 – get in touch!
  • All our members – we look forward to meeting you in person or online in 2020!

Our first walkies of the new year will be to the remarkable Agglestone Rock, 11 January at 11am, don’t be shy, do join us! With David from the National Trust & dog Noah leading the way. Details on the events pages of both the website & Facebook.

With warm wishes for the coming year
