Love Dogs... Love Nature

A Barking Mad 3 months at Lucy's Pet Portraits

A Barking Mad 3 months at Lucy's Pet Portraits

It's been a crazy few months at the studio since Christmas and I thought I would share some of my favourite Pet Portraits that I have been lucky enough to be commissioned to paint.  The pooches were not my only subjects, during the winter months, I did my first duck and continued with my Alpacas, but these chaps bought some sunshine to the gloomy weather outside.

Lola the Cockapoo
This is Lola the Cockapoo, my first commission of 2015.  After seeing me at the Dorset Gallery Christmas show in Wareham Lola's mum Michele got in touch after Christmas to see if I could paint Lola in time for her husbands Birthday, as soon as I saw a photo I couldn't wait to get started!

She was all finished and dry just a couple of days before the Birthday so after a sneaky meeting in a Wareham car park I managed to get the painting to Michele without her husband knowing.

I got an email from Michele on the day to let me know what he thought... "Mark loved his present! Thank you for all your hard work getting the surprise ready for today."

    Blade the Malamute
Blade the Malamute
Back in November we held the first ever Steeple Leaze Farm Christmas Fair and this is where I met Blade's owners Pam and Nathan.

Nathan contacted me shortly after the event asking if I would do a portrait of their Malamute Blade, he said he has been looking for someone to do a portrait for a while and when he saw my work at the Christmas Fair he knew I was the right person for the job!

I arranged to head over to Bridport to meet Blade properly, although I had seen some photos it's always great to meet them if I can as it helps to get to know their character. At first he was a little shy but soon came out of his shell when we took him out to a nearby field for a run, it was great to see him outside, he really is an impressive pooch!

      Effy the Staffie
Effy the Staffie
Before Christmas I ran a competition on my Facebook page, everyone who liked/shared my page throughout the month were entered and I picked a winner at random to win a Pet Portrait.

Robyn Woods was the lucky winner and she won an A3 Oil on Canvas Portrait of her gorgeous Staffie Effy. This was the first time I've painted a Staffie, I always love painting new breeds and taking on a new challenge.

      Roxy the labrador puppy
Roxy the lab puppy
Valentines Day and I was asked to paint the adorable Labrador puppy Roxy for a Valentines present for newly married couple Louise and Chris. They got Roxy just after returning from Honeymoon and so I popped over when she was just 12 weeks old to take some pics and have some cuddles!

Louise gave the painting as a Valentines present to Chris on Valentine's morning and I hear he loves it! Definitely makes a nice change from the usual chocolates and flowers!
