Love Dogs... Love Nature

September 2016 New Members

IF you send in a photo of your dog when you join online you will automatically be one of our 'Dogs of the Month'!

Did you know Dogs of the Month have their own special class at Dorset Dogs' annual Festival.

Don't forget we'd LOVE to see you with your dog in the photos too!

What a lovely bunch!  Say hello to.....

Demi 1775

Demi

Demi is a lovely mixed breed 1 year-old.

Angeline says Demi's a rescue dog who enjoys both Whitecliff and Hamworthy Park - look out on the events page we're doing a guided walkies that will take in Whitecliff, Baiter Park and Poole Park on the 27th November  - did you know many of the walkies this season are being sponsored by the birds who are coming in to our shores in flocks at the moment!

If we can avoid getting to close we'll give them chance to rest & feed - and survive to breed successfully in the spring.  No chasing!  -  they may be exhausted already.

Some rare species come to us in internationally significant numbers - we can make sure we give them sanctuary!

Find out more and do them a favour by filling in this quick 7-question survey!

Douglas 1767

Douglas

Douglas is a Spanish Mastin from Bournemouth, Sarah says "We are practising our dog manners, so looking for new places to learn!"

The 'Out & About' pages might be helpful Sarah, and for those manners don't forget to check out the doggy do code!

Fletcher 1768

Fletcher

Donna tells us "Fletcher was a rescue dog flown from Cyprus, after spending months in a huge pound with over 200 dogs. He is such a clever boy and enjoys lots of walks and cuddles"

He enjoys walks in the forest and clearly has an inquisitive nose and doesn't mind a bit of tartan comfort!

Great to hear he's found a caring home.

Sasha 1772

Sasha

Sasha is a rescue dog but very friendly so sometimes can be a bit nervous but usually wants to play with other dogs.

Patty says they walk in lots of places like Northmead Copse, Upton Wood, Holton Lee, Delph Woods, Cannon Hill and the beaches of course - lucky Sasha!

They enjoy walks around Poole Harbour - hope you'll be able to join us for one of the guided walkies this winter Sasha! They're on the events page.

Bo 1774

Bo-dee-bo

"...adores children, terrified of squirrels (!), anything that's not normally there, the hoover, next door's cat. She's loving, funny and loyal!"

One of her favourite places is Hengistbury Head - a great favourite with many Dorset Dogs members, with big grassy areas as well as all-year round dog-friendly beaches and cafe - you can even take a well-behaved dog on the land train!

Sprite 1770

Sprite

Nicola tells us that Sprite is still appreciating her walks as she gets older - just likes them a bit shorter!

As well as safe river dips, she enjoys the downs between East Charldon and the sea and the hills around the Cerne and Piddle valleys.

Call to members!

If you know of places that you think should go on our 'Out & About' pages or 'dog-friendly' do get in touch and let us know by emailing us at dorsetdogs@dorsetcc.gov.uk  - we don't have so many places in West Dorset on there for example.

We like to give information about great places to go with dogs, as well as giving information that helps us be aware of responsible walking if we're out on more sensitive sites too (for example, they may have wildlife, livestock or other things we may need to take into consideration when we're out with our dogs - check out the 'doggy do code').

Pinkie Brown

Pinkie Brown

Ten month old Chihuahua Pinkie loves meeting up with his friends in Whitecliff and Baiter Park, Nadia tells us.

The guided walkies on the 27th November - starting at 11am by Whitecliff car park - will take in Whitecliff, Baiter and Poole Park - hope you and your friends can make it Pinkie Brown, you'll probably be telling us a thing or two about it!

More details about guided walkies on the events page
