Upton Country Park, Poole Road, BH17 7BJ
A popular park with an off-lead field and also gardens & woodlands which can be enjoyed on lead.
Cafe includes an outdoor seating area where dogs are allowed on-lead.
Exciting changes here - there is now a new, large (30 acre) area where dogs are able to exercise off-lead around several fields in a varied setting including a stream, meadow and good paths.
There is also a smaller securely-fenced area within the off-lead area, for exercise and training. This will be great for many dogs who need recall training for example. You will of course need to check whether it is suitable for your dog, some dogs are rather good at the high jump aren't they - so if you don't normally let your dog off-lead because they are an escape artist you will need to assess the area first. It does however have a high, robust fence. Areas like this are in very short supply - Slades is the only other one we know of with secure fencing - so it's a wonderful bonus for the new off-lead area of the Park.
Good bus links with one going right into the park - and trains a short bus ride or nice dog walk away! http://www.uptoncountrypark.com/find-us.html
The Park borders Poole Harbour, if you walk on the harbourside paths be aware that the Harbour is a great place for birds, so do prevent your dog from disturbing them, more about that at Poole Harbour birds.
