High St, Winfrith Newburgh, Dorchester, Dorset DT2 8JW
This walk is a 30 minute section of a much longer waymarked trail extending to East Knighton and East Chaldon. It includes an old cattle droveway, picture perfect cottages and a quaint little stream for dogs and children to splash about in.
There is space on the road side near the church to park but please ensure there is still enough room for the school coaches to get through. Alternatively, buses stop outside the church so it is easily reached by public transport. Further information about bus stops can be found here.
Some of this route may be suitable for dogs off leads but be aware that some adjacent fields may contain livestock.
A dog bin can be found a short way into the walk so please help to keep this trail safe for everyone to enjoy by cleaning up after your dog. There is also a bench for weary legs to rest near Wynards farm.
A map of the route can be found here and a description here. For a longer walk, follow the signs near the bench up to the Five Mary's and back, or continue to follow the waymarked village trail.
