Website: Friends of Wessex Assisting Dogs
We are a registered charity, founded in 2009, to provide support and guidance to disabled people with assisting dogs in the Wessex Area.
We raise awareness & funding for:
- Cancer and Bio-detection Dogs
- Canine Partners
- Dog Aid
- Dogs for the Disabled
- Guide Dogs
- Hearing Dogs for Deaf People
- Hypo Diabetes Alert
- Seeing Dogs Alliance
- Support Dogs/Seizure Alert
We give talks and demonstrations to community groups and schools to raise awareness of the life changing work that these wonderful animals do.
We raise funds and give grants to our charity partners for the placement of working dogs in the Wessex area. We give grants to local working partnerships for specialised equipment and to cover travel, excess vet’s bills and special food.
We provide local liaison and support for our charity partners. We provide emergency assistance to local people with assisting dogs, including travel and boarding.
We are always grateful for volunteers. If you are can spare some time to help with events or transport, please contact us.
All of the funds that we raise are passed on to our charity partners or used to help local disabled people with assisting dogs. We could not do this valuable work without voluntary contributions.
You can help us by donating on our website, or filling out a FWAD donation form (please contact us for a form.) We are registered for Gift Aid and can claim an additional 28p for every £1 donated if you are a tax payer.
