Meet Florence - Dorset Dog of the Year 2016, looking delighted!
Florence is a very special dog to Adrian and Wendy, a joyful part of their lives, she gets them out and about no matter what!
She's a three year-old Bernese Mountain Dog and she achieved a triple (worthy of doggy Olympics) on the 30th July this year - winning the 'You Just Gotta Love Me' class at the Dorset Dogs Festival, qualifying for the Dorset Dog of the Year 2016 class which she then went on to win. To top it all when she got home she joined Dorset Dogs as a new member!
Florence actually was just going for a short walk at one of her favourite places - Upton Country Park - Wendy & Adrian hadn't realised the Festival was on so her quiet walk turned out to be rather longer and substantially more exciting than expected!
Florence enjoys her walks at Upton Country Park and Hamworthy Park all year, in winter see also enjoys going to Sandbanks, there's actually an all-year round off-lead beach you can enjoy there. During the autumn-winter around Dorset's relatively mild coast (including the Poole Harbour area) we do get a lot of migrating or sheltering birds so take a look to find out about the birds you might see as we approach autumn.
...and another pose with her trophy.

Well done to Florence, and to all the dogs and people who came and enjoyed this year's Festival - thank you for making it such a great day! Hope to see some of you at guided walkies - keep an eye on the events page for the autumn series coming up soon - and look forward to seeing you again at next year's Festival too!
