Join Us

If you agree with the Dorset Dogs way of thinking, why not take a look at the Doggy Do Code and join Dorset Dogs – it’s free?

New members will usually be sent their membership pack at the end of the month of joining (we have currently moved to administering new members on a quarterly basis). In each pack you will receive these great benefits:

  • High quality Dorset Dogs ID tag, ready for engraving.
  • Dorset Dogs car sticker.
  • Countryside access information for dog owners.
  • Dog identity cards, for use if your dog gets lost.
  • Your dog’s photo on the new members page of the website (optional but we’d love to see your dog – you too if you’re not too shy!).
  • Opportunities to take part in consultations.

Did you know… If you include a photo of your dog when you join, your dog becomes one of our ‘Dogs of the Month’ – with an invitation to join us at our next Festival in the ‘Dog of the Year’ class. We’d LOVE to see you in the photo too!

Where do you regularly walk your dog?

Is there anything you’d like to tell us about your dog, or the places you go? This may go on the ‘new members’ page of the website with your dog’s photo.

Where is your FAVOURITE place to walk your dog in Dorset – this may change with the seasons?

Your surname, house number and street name will only be used to send out your new members pack, we will not store that information once the pack has been sent.

The rest of the information you give will be stored on a members database held on a Dorset County Council system for security. The information stored will not identify you except by first name and postcode, which does not identify you or your home address. Information about your dogs and the walks you enjoy may be used to help us carry out or advise land managers on positive access management for dogs, for example to show where more facilities are needed for dog owners, but that information will be anonymised and will not identify specific people. We also use the information you give about your dogs on the new members page to tell people a bit about them but you can tell us if you do not want us to do that. It is optional to include photos or text about your dog on the new members page.

We may use your email address to send you a newsletter 4 to 8 times a year, ask your opinion or let you know about our work. You can opt out of this at any time and we will not pass on your email address to others without your express permission. If you would like to remove your email address you can do that at any time by contacting dorsetdogs@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk and we will remind you you can do that when we send out newsletters.
