What a day! A big thank you to the Dorset Heaths Partnership and the Bird and Recreation Initiative for inviting us to collaborate on the very first HEATH AND HARBOUR HULLABALOO!
‘Discovering Dorset on our doorstep’ and celebrating the stunning coast and countryside where we enjoy walking with our dogs.
With over 35 stands ranging from countryside, conservation and wildlife organisations, the emergency services (including a DWFRS appliance) and local business stalls. As well as refreshments plus live music, have-a-go and taster sessions and a huge marquee with heathland artwork and a big screen.
For our countryside and coast loving canines we had dog businesses and charity stands, a fun dog show, doggy dash, demos, talks and mini training sessions and a chance to meet our K9 Firewise Patrol. It was a relaxed, good-natured event, with a fantastic waterside view.
We want to say thank you to the dog stands who joined us alongside all the other great stallholders Animals at Home Poole, Dogs Trust Dorset Dog School, The Dog Pod – Whimiscal Tails and Idris and Pals, Guide Dogs South West, Kids Around Dogs, Marshalls Pet Food Store, National Foundation for Retired Service Animals, Waggy Tails Rescue and to our fab K9 Firewise Patrol stand.
Introducing our 15th Anniversary Dorset Dog of the Year – Rebel
Our judges for this category were very impressed with Rebel’s family’s knowledge of the Doggy Do Code and wildlife friendly walking.
Rebel is a 5 year old German Shepherd and retired police dog who worked as a general purpose dog with Dorset Police.
Unfortunately, he only served for a year before being diagnosed with spondylosis, which resulted in his early retirement.
After retirement he was rehomed with a family in Poole where he now is a much loved family pet. He enjoys walks, chasing balls and he also loves shopping and visits to the pub , anywhere he can be the centre of attention! Rebel is supported by the National Foundation for Retired Service Animals.
